Discovering a Milan that never was but could have been. A narrative flow comes to life through illustrated installations and designer furnishings, offering an immersive experience that engages the senses of sight, smell, and sound. This is the essence of euphoria. The Miracle of Ascari and Remigio: Nostalgia Futuro.
Presented at Milan Design Week from April 15th to 21st 2024, the project stems from the collaboration between architect Luca Remigio, founder of Remigio Architects, and illustrator Jacopo Ascari, founder of Atelier Ascari.

Nostalgia Futuro paints a vivid urban portrait of Milan—a realm of unrealized projects and visions of some of the greatest minds. These iconic, unfinished endeavors pave the way for future possibilities. In this illustrated tale, a child follows a carriage into a city suspended between melancholy and hope, while a female figure with a 1950s style and bold red lipstick takes flight. Nostalgia Futuro embodies monumentality, unity, and trust in the future. Architecture serves as an antidote to anxiety—a euphoric interpretation of the future.
To bring this vision to life, Remigio Architects envelops its studio on Via Plinio and Via Righi with a towering monolith. Crafted from vertical fabric panels and aluminum frames stretching over 10 meters high, and evenly spaced to eliminate any perforations in the entire building, the structure creates a seamless canvas upon which Jacopo Ascari's illustrations shine in all their grandeur.
This fusion of visions and contagion to experience spaces — viewed from the outside rather than the inside, and yet with different perspectives. Ascari's fashion-inspired all-over technique breathes life into Remigio Architects' exhibition design, guiding visitors through an installation realized with sustainable materials, a permanent concept in every project of the studio. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable, while the fabric derives from recycled plastic bottles and is printed using a water-based sublimation process, thus avoiding the use of solvents or chemical agents.

Nostalgia Futuro is an experiential and multisensory journey that visually and tactilely stimulates through the material aesthetics of the concept, as well as olfactory thanks to the collaboration with Moellhausen, a company that creates fragrances for major brands, and Aromatic of Mr. Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz Bin Shabeeb, a Saudi company whose fragrance diffusers are present in most hotels worldwide, enhance the olfactory dimension, with scent diffusers placed inside and outside Remigio Architects' studio for the occasion.
The exhibition also engages the sense of hearing. The journey is complemented by a smart guide developed in collaboration with eArs, a company specializing in creating short audio clips for various sectors and events, and Mondadori Audiobooks.
Consisting of four audio tracks, each lasting a maximum of 1 minute and 30 seconds, the guide includes a brief introduction describing the installation or furniture piece, akin to a "traditional" audio guide, followed by an evocative segment directly sourced from a Mondadori title audiobook chosen to resonate with the values and concept envisioned by Remigio Architects and Jacopo Ascari. The four steps, comprising the external facade and the three interior rooms, will feature 2-meter-tall totems made of fabric and aluminum frames. Each totem will be equipped with a QR code for smartphone scanning, allowing visitors to enjoy autonomous audio playback. The QR code will be incorporated into a drawing by Jacopo Ascari, maintaining a consistent visual theme with the installation's representations.
