Milano MuseoCity started on Sunday March 2nd. Until the 8th of March, the initiative which will offer to a wider public the opportunity to discover the cultural and artistical heritage of Milan.
This year Rimani, the Piedmont based company specialized in design and realization of innovative lightning solutions, is a technical partner and designed and installed illuminations for three institutions which had better interpret this year’s theme: “Strade dell’Arte” (Street of Arts).
The three 2025 winning institutions are: Fondazione Somaini ETS, Archivio Rodolfo Monaco e il Castello Sforzesco.
Fondazione Somaini ETS
Rimani set up two SOLAR 100 devices in high chromatic yield in white color, equipped of two anti-glare filters and two elliptical lenses of 10° over 60° in the Somaini ETS Foundation to illuminate “Grande Bassorilievo. Le Baccanti nella Foresta”, white fibreglass track obtained by rolling a sculpture created by Somaini between 1987 and 1988.
Solar is a product designed by the company, a best-in-class element characterised by accurate colour rendering with exceptional vividness of whites, high intensity and extraordinary uniformity and effectiveness of the beams.
With Solar, Rimani has installed the ideal solution to highlight this work of art, allowing the public to appreciate its beauty..
Rodolfo Monaco Archive
The Rodolfo Monaco Archive houses ‘New York’, a 1996 work inspired by a trip to the United States and realised with the coloured earth technique. To bring out the colours, Rimani installed two SOLAR 100 high chromatic rendering white luminaires, accompanied by two anti-glare filters and two 25° diffusing lenses, customising the lighting according to the specific requirements of the installation.
Solar's LED sources have a three-phosphor technology with emission in the violet to produce a continuous, full spectrum in the frequencies of red and cyan, perfect for all colours, creating a natural-looking light that is indispensable for the true colour rendering of a work of art such as “New York”.
Castello Sforzesco
The lighting of the Castello Sforzesco was a challenge for Rimani. The featured work is the “Gonfalone di Milano”, a civic symbol par excellence, protagonist of the city's history even in 1945, in dialogue with the poster of the Reconstruction exhibition, designed by Albe Steiner and coming from Palazzo Moriggia Museo del Risorgimento.
In order to guarantee the best light projection without compromising the aesthetics of the exhibition, Rimani has designed a tailored lighting solution, capable of enhancing every detail of the work and adapted to the conditions of this 15th century monument, which is not equipped with electrical installations. The system designed by Rimani guarantees a continuous source of light without the need to connect the product.
Thanks to specially designed lighting systems, Rimani has enhanced the works on display, making their enjoyment even more evocative and engaging.
